One of the most anticipated unveiling at this year's Auto Expo, to be held at Greater Noida from 3 February, is the compact SUV from Maruti Suzuki christened as the Vitara Brezza. The company launched a micro site for the upcoming compact SUV earlier this week and now a teaser image has been released.

The teaser image reveals the frond-end of the SUV. The grille section is highlighted with a thick chrome strip and is flanked by projector head lamps unit that also features DRLs inside the cluster. The upper part of the large air dam and fog lamp in the bumper can be seen in the teaser image.

The first teaser image, which was released with the announcement of the name, showed the SUV with square wheel arches, short overhangs, high ground clearance and upright hood. A prominent shoulder line and rooflines that slope down towards the rear give Vitara Brezza a unique design.

The Vitara name is familiar in India as the manufacturer sold a premium SUV named Grand Vitara. The Brezza is Italian for fresh breeze. The compact SUV has been designed and engineered completely by the R&D team in India, led by Chief Engineer CV Raman.

The Vitara Brezza is expected to be feature rich with multi-functioning steering wheel, SmartPlay touchscreen entertainment system, automatic climate control, key-less entry, push start/stop button and touchscreen infotainment system. The safety will be taken care of by airbags and anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD).

There is no word on the powertrains until now. The SUV can be expected with 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine and 1.3-litre Fiat sourced diesel engine, both of which are used in many Maruti Suzuki cars. The Vitara Brezza is likely to be priced in the range of Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 8.2 lakh.
