A new prototype of Maruti SX4 S-Cross has been snapped undergoing testing in the country again, consolidating our belief that the car is inching closer to its India launch.
The latest batch spy shots of SX4 S-Cross came from the folks at Motoroids and this time too the test mule is seen hiding under heavy black camouflage. SX S-Cross, a model based Suzuki SX4 platform is expected to make its India debut in early 2015, may be this month itself.
There is nothing much to talk about the upcoming SX4 S-Cross as the model is already being sold in the international market. The model that is coming to India will also get almost the same style and design of its European counterpart, except minor modifications like chrome trimming.
As for the engine, the Indian-bound version of the car is likely to be powered by 1.6-litre diesel engine, which can churn out a power of 118bhp with a peak torque of 32kgm and the transmission is likely to come from a six-speed manual gearbox. There have also been rumours that 1.4-litre K-Series petrol engine is also likely to be featured in the India bound version.
In Europe, the car is sold with a 1.6-litre petrol engine, which can churn out 120PS peak power and 156Nm peak torque and 1.6 litre MultiJet engine, capable of generating 120PS and 320Nm torque. In terms of dimensions, SX4 S-Cross measures 4,300 mm in length, 1,765 mm in width, 1,575 in height and comes seated on a wheelbase of 2,600 mm.
The India bound model of SX4 S-Cross is likely to get LED daytime-running lights, 16-inch alloy wheels, scuff plates and black-cladding and apparently, Suzuki's "Allgrip" all-wheel-drive system is also on the menu.
When launched, S-Cross will be pitted against Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport and Nissan Terrano in India and from what we have heard so far, expect the S-Cross to carry a price tag around ₹8 lakh.
