Maruti Suzuki has launched the top-spec ZXi+ and ZDi+ variants of the new Swift hatchback with Automated Manual Transmission (AMT).  Maruti Suzuki coins the AMT tech as Auto Gear Shift (AGS). The automatic transmission option was previously available only with VXI/VDI and ZXI/ZDI trims.

Maruti Suzuki has priced the Swift ZXI+ AGS at Rs 7.76 lakh while the ZDI+ AGS costs Rs 8.76 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. The ZXi+ and ZDi+ AGS models are new most expensive variants of the 2018 Swift. It is premium by Rs 47,000 over the manual trim (ZXI+/ZDI+) and Rs 80,000 over the next most affordable AMT variants (ZXI AGS/ZDI AGS).

With the introduction of the two new variants, 2018 Swift range has grown to 14 variants. Being the top-spec models, both new variants get two-tone alloy wheels, reverse parking sensors with the camera. They also get smart play touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and others.

"Swift has always scored high on customers' expectations. With the latest evolution, the all-new Swift has reached the next level of customer delight. AGS has been very well appreciated by our Swift customers. We had customer feedback seeking the convenience of AGS in the high-selling top-end variants. Accordingly, we are now offering AGS in the top-end ZXI+ and ZDI+ variants. This will further strengthen the brand Swift and enhance the popularity of Maruti Suzuki's acclaimed two-pedal technology," said R. S. Kalsi, Senior Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India.

The third generation of the Swift launched at Auto Expo 2018 in February has become a runaway success. The new Swift sales crossed one lakh units in June and it took only 145 days to achieve the milestone. The accolades come as no surprise as the new avatar of the hatchback got a head start with over 25,000 unit sales in just 40 days.

2018 Swift continues to draw power from the 1.2-liter K12 VVT petrol and 1.3-liter DDiS diesel engines. The petrol mill develops 83hp of power and 113Nm of torque while the diesel mill belts out 75hp of power and 190Nm of torque. The Swift gets the five-speed manual transmission and five-speed Auto Gear Shift (AGS) transmission in both petrol and diesel trims.
