India's largest passenger car maker, Maruti Suzuki, launched the CNG variant of Ertiga MPV with a price tag staring from ₹6.52 lakh.

The car known as Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Green is the only vehcile in this segment with factory fitted CNG kits and the sixth vehicle from Maruti apart from Alto, Wagon R, Eeco, SX4 and Estilo . The vehicle will be available in two variants and is expected to give a mileage of 22.80 km per kg of one CNG.

"As a market leader we are concerned about the environment. We continuously work to offer products that are high on fuel efficiency and low on overall cost of ownership. Ertiga Green, with a factory fitted CNG system, is another step of Maruti Suzuki to meet today's need of our customers. With the Ertiga Green our customers will be able to enjoy lower running costs and also take advantage of Maruti Suzuki's vast service network across the country," said company's Vice President (Marketing) Manohar Bhat.

The Ertiga Green will be available with CNG infrastructure in Delhi NCR, Gujarat, Mumbai, Pune, and parts of Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. The base variant of the new car is price at ₹6.52 lakh and the top-end variant is available for ₹7.30 lakh. Maruti Ertiga is now available in CNG, petrol and diesel versions in India. The company sold over 87,000 units of Ertiga since its launch in April 2012. With the launch of the new variant, the company hopes to regain a foothold in the market which has been reeling under sluggish auto demand.
