Maruti Suzuki Ciaz to Debut in September; Bookings, Price Details

Maruti Suzuki India has decided to pass the burden of excise duty hike on to consumers, effective from 1 January 2015.

The company has increased prices of its models by up to ₹31,600 to offset the impact of the withdrawal of excise duty concessions and rising input costs.

Maruti's popular small car Alto which was earlier priced between ₹2.37 lakh to ₹3.52 lakh, is now costlier by ₹8,500 to ₹12,700 (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).

Likewise, Maruti's Wagon R and hot hatch Swift are now dearer by ₹12,500 to ₹15,700 and ₹15,850 to ₹25,150 respectively.

Maruti's Swift Dzire sedan prices have gone up by ₹17,500 to ₹26,650 and now available in the range of ₹4.85 lakh to ₹7.32 lakh.

The company's first AMT model Celerio saw an increase of ₹13,600 to ₹17,200.

Coming to Maruti's latest offering Ciaz, the price of the sedan has been hiked in the range of ₹22,450 to ₹31,600 and consequently, the current price range is ₹6.99 lakh to ₹9.80 lakh.

Other models of Maruti like multi-purpose vehicle Ertiga and Omni also saw an increase in the range of ₹18,750 to ₹27,750 and ₹7,850 to ₹9,950 respectively.

Car makers like Hyundai, Honda and General Motors also increased their prices following the rollback of excise duty concessions by the Central government. While General Motors hiked prices by up to ₹20,000, Honda Cars India increased prices by up to ₹60,000.
