After dropping the prices of the Ciaz SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle) by up to Rs. 69,000, country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki has now cut the prices of its Ertiga MPV diesel by Rs. 51,000 to Rs. 62,000. Maruti's both Ciaz SHVS and Ertiga SHVS get the benefit of reduced excise duty under the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP). The Delhi government has reduced the tax of the electric and hybrid cars to 12.5 percent from the previous 24 percent.
The Ertiga MP, which made its market entry in India on October 17, 2015, in its new avatar at a starting price Rs. 7.59 lakh for diesel variants (ex-showroom Delhi). Under the hood, Maruti's popular MPV Ertiga diesel gets 1.3 multi-jet diesel engine.
While Ertiga's 1.3 multi-jet diesel engine develops 89bhp of power and 200Nm of torque, it also gets SHVS small hybrid system that debuted with Ciaz hybrid. Like the Ciaz SHVS, the Ertiga facelift also gets engine start/stop button, electric folding mirrors and keyless entry and SmartPlay infotainment system. The MPV is also offered in petrol option with 1.4-litre K Series petrol engine producing 94bhp and 130Nm is mated to five-speed transmission.
