Maruti Suzuki silently added a new variant of the Ciaz sedan. The new variant, ZXi+ Automatic, is the new top-of-the-line petrol variant, which is priced at Rs 10.19 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. This is the 15th variant for the sedan, which is available in both diesel and petrol mills.
The new variant comes with automatic transmission with all the features of the previous top-end model ZXi+. The ZXi+ has been sold in manual transmission only. The automatic transmission for the Ciaz was limited to the VXi and Zxi. Hence some of the features were not available if you chose the automatic version.
The automatic transmission in the new variant is the same four-speed unit that was earlier available on the VXi+ and ZXi variants, reports AutocarIndia. The new model is powered by the same 1373cc four cylinder engine that develops 91bhp at 6,000rpm and 130Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. The Ciaz with automatic transmission also claims fuel efficiency 19.12kmpl.
Launched in 2014, the Ciaz sedan is Maruti Suzuki's contender in the mid-size sedan segment which is the main domain of Honda City. Maruti Suzuki added Vxi (O) and Vdi (O) trims to the Ciaz range with safety features and also updated diesel models with SHVS smart hybrid engine. The company also launched RS version of Ciaz priced between Rs 9.2 lakh and Rs 10.28 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) in October 2015.
