Indian auto enthusiasts' wait for the all new sedan Ciaz from the house of Maruti Suzuki is almost over. The car maker will pull the wraps off its much awaited Ciaz sedan in the country on 6 October.
Ciaz, the replacement of Maruti's slow performer SX4 has been enticing auto lovers in the country since its first appearance at the Delhi Auto Expo. The car was caught on test in the country numerous times and is now finally going on sale. The exact pricing of Ciaz is yet unknown but it is expected it fall in the price range of ₹7 lakh to ₹10.50 lakh.
Expected to be available in ten variants-6 petrol variants – VXi, VXi+, ZDi, ZDi+, VXi+ Automatic and ZXi Automatic and 4 diesel variants- VDi, VDi+, ZDi and ZDi+, Ciaz will come in both petrol and diesel engine options.
Under the hood, Ciaz will pack 1.3 litre Multijet diesel or 1.4 litre K Series petrol engine. While the 1.4 litre K series (K14B) petrol engine is capable of producing 95 PS power at 6,000 rpm and 130 Nm peak torque at 4,000 rpm, the 1.3 litre DDIS diesel motor is tuned to churn out 90 PS at 4,000 rpm power and 200 Nm peak torque at 1,750 rpm. The transmission will come from five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic gearbox for petrol and for the diesel Ciaz, there will be five-speed manual gearbox.
The bookings for the Ciaz are already underway and the initial responses hint that the car might be popular in the country. Ciaz will be pegged against Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Volkswagen Vento in the sub-continent.
