The wait for Maruti's Ciaz is almost over. The company has started releasing the images and specifications of its much awaited Ciaz on the website, indicating that the time is up for Maruti to toss the wraps off its new sedan.

From the moment Maruti showcased its Ciaz concept at Delhi Auto Expo 2014, the auto aficionados in the country have been drooling over this stylish machine and now it looks like it's almost here. We have given you enough stories and spy shots of the upcoming Maruti Ciaz. That is not all. Here we are again with some more details including the mileage and other key details of the new Ciaz.

Maruti Ciaz, the latest entrant in the burgeoning sedan market, will be squared off against Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Volkswagen Vento in India.

From the latest images of Ciaz, we think Maruti has worked really hard to offer a comprehensive and stylish kit with its new big car.

It looks stylish in its design and comes seated on a wheelbase of 2,650 mm. In terms of dimensions, the new Ciaz measures 4,490 mm in length, 1,730 mm in width, 1,485 mm in height and has a ground clearance of 170 mm.

As we have previously reported, under the bonnet the new Ciaz will pack the same 1.3 litre Multijet diesel or 1.4 litre K Series petrol engine of Ertiga. The 1.4 litre K series (K14B) petrol engine is capable of producing 95 PS power at 6,000 rpm and 130 Nm peak torque at 4,000 rpm and 1.3 litre DDIS diesel motor has a capacity to churn out 90 PS at 4,000 rpm power and 200 Nm peak torque at 1,750 rpm .

Interestingly, Maruti has tuned these engines to deliver the best in class mileage with the petrol Ciaz promising to give a return of 20.73 kmpl and the diesel to give 26.21 kmpl. If this rings true, Maruti Ciaz diesel will grab the tile of India's most fuel-efficient car from the current title holder Honda City.

Details about the transmission set-up are still not provided, but from what we have heard so far, both the engines will come coupled to a five-speed manual transmission. There have been also rumours that the four-speed automatic will also make it to the petrol Ciaz. However, it has not been confirmed yet.

The Ciaz will come loaded with features like SmartPlay infotainment system, climate control, rear AC vents, keyless entry, projector beam headlamps, steering-mounted audio controls, push-button start, 16-inch alloy wheels and more. The car will come donned in seven body paints and will be available in a choice of four variants - VXi, VXi+, ZXi, and ZXi+ and VDi, VDi+, ZDi and ZDi+.

The company has confirmed that the Ciaz will reach the market during this festive season and we expect it to be on the market by mid-October. The price details are limited for now, but chances are the Ciaz will be priced in the ₹7.2 lakh-₹10.5 lakh brackets. Some dealers of the company have commenced the bookings of Ciaz with a down payment of 21,000 while the official bookings are scheduled to start from 3 September.
