It was just a few days ago that auto lovers in India got the first glimpse of Ciaz's new mild hybrid model SHVS( Smart Hybrid Vehicles).

Now, the latest online buzz is that Maruti is planning to discontinue diesel Ciaz in the country to accommodate the new Ciaz hybrid.

Motor buffs at Carsizzler report that Maruti dealers have started accepting bookings for the new Ciaz SHVS against a down payment of Rs 11,000 and deliveries are expected to commence early September.

The report also states that the dealers of Ciaz in Delhi are also offering heavy discounts on the Ciaz diesel variant to clear the stock before the arrival of the new SHVS.

As for styling and design, the Ciaz SHVS is said to be the just the same as the current model and the changes are likely to be limited to the engine line-up.

For the Ciaz SHVS, power will be generated by the 1.3-liter DDiS diesel engine, battery and an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG).

The model will also feature start/stop system, which will help Ciaz to deliver better mileage. The Maruti Ciaz SHVS will be more fuel efficient than the current models and is likely to get a premium of Rs 40,000 over its current diesel model.
