The diesel version of Maruti's breakthrough model Celerio was caught on test once again, consolidating our belief that the car is inching closer to its launch in the country.

Maruti Celerio, which has been a phenomenal success in the sub continent market since its launch is now being rumoured to get a new version with a diesel engine. Now, the folks at GaadiWaadi have managed to film the Diesel Celerio, which was on a test near its Gurgaon factory. This is not the first time it was spotted on test, however, the latest video throws light on the engine specifications of the upcoming Celerio.

The the top end variant ZDI Celerio was spotted, which is likely to make its way to the market by October, though many believe that it is unlikely to happen so soon. So we expect it to reach the market in early 2015, according to Gaadiwaadi.

As we already know, Celerio diesel will be getting power from Maruti's indigenously developed 2 pot 800cc diesel motor, which would also make its way to the company's first LCV codenamed Y9T. The engine will be tuned to generate a power of 45-50 bhp and a peak torque of 120-130 Nm, promising a fuel efficiency of 30 kmpl. Other features, including the interior and exterior of the diesel Celerio will remain the same as the current version, except the minor tweaks in the suspension.

Expected to be offered in four trim levels- LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi(O), the new Celerio diesel will square off against Chevrolet Beat and the Ford Figo in India. Nothing much has been said about the pricing of the vehicle, however, the word is that the car is likely to get a price tag around ₹4.6 lakh.

At present, the Celerio is offered in CNG and petrol variants in the country.
