Looks like we are inching closer to the launch of the new diesel version of Maruti Celerio. If the latest reports on the internet are anything to go by, Indian auto lovers will see the diesel Celerio on the road latest by June.

A new report of TeamBHP reveals that Maruti is expected to start the dealer dispatch of new Celerio diesel in May  and the sales of the model is likely to commence by June. Going by the report, the diesel version of Celerio will be launched in the country towards the end of this month or by the first week of June.

Maruti diesel Celerio will get the all-new 2 pot 800cc diesel motor, which is expected to churn out 35-40bhp and peak toque of 120-130Nm under the hood and will come mated to 5-speed manual gearbox. The model will also become the most fuel-efficient car in the country with a mileage of 30.1 kmpl.

Apart from the change in the engine line-up, the diesel Celerio model will remain just the same as its petrol variant which is already in the market.

Previous reports suggested that the production of diesel Celerio is in full swing at the company's plant and the new Celerio model is likely to be offered in LDi, VDi and ZDi variants. Although there were rumours about diesel AMT Celerio, the latest we hear that AMT variant is not on the list at least for now.

When launched, Celerio diesel will be taking on the likes of Chevrolet Beat and the Ford Figo in India.
