Maruti Suzuki's new premium hatchback is slated to be released in India on 26 October. Now, the emerging reports on the web suggest that Maruti will start the export of its new hatchback Baleno from 2016.

A report of Indian Autos Blog, citing RS Kalsi, Executive Director of Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki claims that Maruti Baleno export will begin in early 2016. The 'made in India' Baleno will reportedly be exported to Japan too. Maruti Suzuki exports its cars to 125 countries, including Asia, Europe, Africa and South America.

Talking about Baleno, the second car to join Maruti's premium dealership chain Nexa will be pitted against Honda New Jazz and Hyundai Elite i20. To be manufactured at the company's Manesar plant, Baleno is expected to be pegged at Rs 6 lakh. Maruti's Nexa dealers have already started accepting bookings for the new Baleno.

The engine line-up of Maruti Balneo includes 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine developing 83bhp and 115Nm of torque, and the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine that will churn out 74bhp and 190Nm of torque. Both the engines come mated to a five-speed manual transmission, while the petrol engine is also available with CVT automatic gearbox.

As for fuel efficiency, while the Maruti Baleno DDiS diesel engine is tuned to deliver claimed fuel efficiency of 27.39kmpl, the petrol variant returns a claimed fuel efficiency of 21.4kmpl.
