The Nexa, the newest destination for Maruti's premium models, will welcome the second model to its showrooms in October. Ahead of its launch in the country, some of the dealers of Nexa have opened the bookings for Maruti Baleno with a down payment ranging from Rs 11,000 to Rs 25,000.

However, when we contacted Maruti and Nexa, they confirmed to us that the official bookings are yet to begin. Maruti is expected to pull the wraps off its much-awaited Baleno hatchback, the rival to Honda New Jazz and Hyundai Elite i20, in India on 26 October.

Maruti Baleno, the model which is currently previewed on the Nexa website with the 'coming soon' tag measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,500 mm in height and 1,745 mm in width. The model sits on a wheelbase of 2,520 mm and has a ground clearance of 180 mm.

Under the hood, from what we hear, Maruti Baleno will pack 1.2-liter VVT petrol and 1.3-liter DDiS diesel mills. While the petrol variant of Baleno can churn out 83bhp at 6,000 rpm and 115 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm, the diesel trim will be tuned to pump out 74bhp at 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm.

There will be four trims of Baleno on offer -- Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha -- and they will get seven exterior body colour options -- Granite grey, Solid fire red, Premium urban blue, Autumn orange, Metallic premium silver, Pearl arctic white and Ray blue.
