Maruti Suzuki, India's largest car maker by volume, launched the updated version of the Alto 800 priced at Rs. 2.49 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi on Wednesday. The new version of Maruti Suzuki's best-seller comes with subtle cosmetic changes at the front, new interior layout, higher fuel efficiency and new colour options.

Maruti Suzuki in a statement said the new Alto 800 improved 9 percent in fuel efficiency and now boasts of 24.7 kmpl. The outgoing model was sold with a claimed fuel efficiency of 22.74 kmpl. In the CNG mode, the new Alto 800 offers a mileage of 33.44 km per kg, an improvement of around 10 per cent.

According to the company, the face of the hatchback gets a new aero edge design. The basic silhouette of the Alto 800 remains untouched, though it has received a new front grille and mild tweaks on the front and rear bumpers. The front bumper now has place for fog lights, and the logo has also moved to the bumper from the grille. The length of the car has been increased by 35mm that will free up more legroom. Maruti Suzuki has also added two new colours – mojito green and cerulean blue.

On the inside, the car gets a new dark grey colour along with new seat and door trim fabric. The rear seats now come with integrated headrests. On the safety front, the new Alto 800 is available with a driver airbag as an option from the base variant onwards. Also, the passenger side rear view mirror is now a standard.

Under the hood, Maruti Alto 800 facelift will get the same 796cc three-cylinder engine, which develops 47bhp and 69Nm of torque mated to five-speed manual transmission.
