Patna, Feb 20 (ANI): Jitan Ram Manjhi on Friday stepped down as the Bihar Chief Minister, hours before he was to seek a vote of confidence in the state assembly. Manjhi had earlier met Bihar Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi at the Governor's House here. While addressing a press conference, Manjhi said that he tendered his resignation for the safety of his MLAs as they were being threatened and bribed ahead of the trust vote in the assembly. Manjhi was locked in a showdown with former Bihar chief minister and senior Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar, who had handpicked him to take his place last year.
