Moura is struggling for a first team place at PSG

Manchester United are clearly short on both quality and numbers in the midfield department this season, something which manager David Moyes is expected to address in this transfer window.

As a result, the rumour mill has linked the Red Devils with a host of midfielders in recent weeks, and the latest additions to the list are PSG's Lucas Moura and Napoli's Marek Hamsik.

Moyes has been scouting some potential targets in Europe himself of late and, according to the Daily Star, the Scot had travelled to Paris to watch Moura play against Bordeaux earlier this week.

The Brazil international has been a long-time target of United and has remained so, even after the former Sao Paulo star snubbed a move to Old Trafford for a £37 million switch PSG, back in the summer of 2012.

However, Moura has struggled for regular game time at the star-studded Paris outfit, managing just nine starts in PSG's 20 Ligue 1 games so far this season.

The report claims PSG are now willing to listen to offers for Moura, and Moyes believes the 21-year-old, who can operate on the flanks as well as in the centre, would be a huge success at Old Trafford.

United, who are currently seventh in the Premier League, can guarantee Moura a place in the first team, and the youngster knows he would need regular game time for the next four  months, in order to cement his spot in Luis Felipe Scolari's 23-man squad for the upcoming World Cup in his country.

Napoli's Marek Hamsik
Hamsik could be available for £25m

Meanwhile, according to The Independent, Moyes is considering a move for Napoli playmaker and Slovakia international Hamsik.

The report claims Moyes' top midfield targets in this window are Juventus duo Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba but the former Everton boss could turn his attention to Hamsik, if the Old Lady of Turin refuse to sell their top-prized assets.

Hamsik is highly rated across Europe and has produced top notch performances for Napoli on a consistent basis for the last six seasons. Chelsea have been linked with an approach for the 26-year-old in recent years but it now appears United have moved ahead in the queue.

The newspaper also suggests that Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentis could consider selling Hamsik to United, if Moyes tables an offer of around £25 million.
