Angel Di Maria

In what could come as a shock for Manchester United fans all over the world, Red Devils star winger Angel di Maria could be zeroing in on a move to French side Paris St-Germain, according to reports in the British media.

It has just been a year since the Argentine master dribbler made the move to Old Trafford for a British transfer record of £59.7 million from Real Madrid. And now, following just a season, a new transfer saga involving Di Maria has apparently kick-started.

But this is not something unexpected from the volatile football transfer window.

Reports have emerged that PSG are closing in with a £43m offer for Di Maria, and the French champions have also reportedly held provisional talks with Di Maria's agents. They have agreed to conform to Di Maria's current £200,000-a-week wage demand.

The Daily Star revealed Di Maria is willing to reconsider his decision to stay at Old Trafford and make the move this summer. The report comes after the winger learnt that France's current PSG coach Laurent Blanc has shown interest in the Argentinian.

The French champions had made an initial bid of £40m, but United bosses have reportedly told them to improve upon it and meet their asking price.

The Old Trafford side have already spent £80m this summer to bring in the likes of Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin, Matteo Darmian and Memphis Depay to the Theatre of Dreams.

With two extra midfielders at Louis van Gaal's disposal now, the competition for places will be stronger than ever.

And Di Maria knows he might struggle for games at United, but has been promised regular starts in Paris.

The Argentinian international made a flying start initially under Van Gaal last season, but in the later stages, suffered a dramatic loss of form and found himself dropped from the team; he failed to feature in any of the final seven games of last season.

He clocked a total of 27 Premier League appearances last season and also picked up as many as 11 assists.

However, given the fact that he is still taking time to adjust in England, it is understood Van Gaal is reluctant to sell Di Maria but will ultimately agree to let him go if the winger wants to leave.

The transfer saga doesn't end there.

It has been also learnt that United are reportedly eyeing for a £50m straight swap with PSG involving Angel Di Maria and Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani.

With Robin van Persie moving to Fenerbache, Paris Saint Germain's striker Cavani is Van Gaal's key target, as reported by The Guardian. United currently have Wayne Rooney as the sole experienced striker in the side.

So, this makes the swap all the more imminent. United could be on the verge of allowing Di Maria to move to PSG in order to sign the prolific Uruguayan striker.

While the ongoing transfer saga is bound to continue in the coming days, Di Maria looks forward to United's pre-season tour in the mean time.

Di Maria is currently on a break following the Copa America 2015 but he is due to meet up with Van Gaal's squad during the later stages of United's tour of America.
