Atlético Madrid Striker Mario Manzukic is reportedly set to leave the club in the upcoming summer transfer window. Manchester United have been offered the opportunity to rope in Mandzukic from Madrid, according to The Mail.

Mandzukic joined the La Liga club last summer from Bayern Munich by replacing Diego Costa, who parted ways with the club and joined Chelsea. He was signed for an amount of £18million but currently, he is valued at £36million.

Mandzukic has had a tough season with Atlético Madrid. Although he has managed to score 20 goals in all the competitions ever since he joined the club, he fell out with the coaching staff, esecially, Diego Simeone, suggest reports.

Mandzukic has been considering options and many other European clubs are interested in this talented striker. He is said to be keen on playing in the English Premier League. Arsenal, AS Roma and AC Milan have also been linked with this Croatian striker.

United manager Louis Van Gaal is looking to bolster his attacking front as the Red Devils let go off Radamel Falcao, who joined on loan last transfer window. Falcao could find the back of the net only four times last season and was unable to impress Van Gaal.

United have already secured the transfer of Dutch international winger Memphis Depay. Earlier, Angel Di Maria, who has had a scratchy first season with the 20-time champions, had said that he will stay at the Old Trafford.

Mandzukic has played with five different clubs in his career but did not stick to any one for long. Keeping in mind that Atlético Madrid did not win any trophy last season, Van Gaal would think more than once before signing Manzukic. But Mandzukic had a good season and is a good playmaker as well. Van Gaal is also reportedly considering to sell Robin Van Persie to Juventus for £10 million in the upcoming transfer window. Mandzukic was a target for the former United boss David Moyes as well but the latter failed to seal the deal.

United was also monitoring Dani Alves, but recently he tweeted from his official Twitter account that he has agreed a two-year deal with the European Champions, Barcelona. Reports also suggest that Paris Saint-Germain are going to offer Gregory Van Der Wiel to the Red Devils who is currently valued at £7 million.
