Manchester United have officially announced that they have reached an agreement with PSV Eindhoven over the transfer of Memphis Depay to Old Trafford this summer.

The Dutchman has been heavily linked with a summer move to Old Trafford of late, with PSV technical director Marcel Brands confirming that Manchester United had made an official approach.

Recently, there were reports of the 21-year-old and his agent flying to Manchester to discuss the details of his potential move to Old Trafford at the end of the season, but Depay immediately rubbished those reports, insisting he had not spoken to the Red Devils.

However, the speculation seems to have been true after all, as Manchester United have officially announced that they have reached an agreement with PSV over the transfer of Depay for a fee of around £25-30 million, according to BBC Sport, .

"Manchester United has reached agreement with PSV Eindhoven and Memphis Depay for the player's transfer, subject to a medical, once the transfer window opens in June," read a statement in Manchester United's official website.

PSV also confirmed the news of them reaching an agreement with Manchester United over Depay's transfer on their official website.

"PSV and Manchester United have reached an agreement on the transfer of Memphis," read the statement.

"Memphis has also reached an agreement with Manchester United. Marcel Brands [PSV Eindhoven's technical director] emphasised that all the necessary paperwork must first be dealt with in the coming days and that the player must undergo a medical examination."

PSV Eindhoven's technical director Marcel Brands expressed his happiness to see Depay, an academy graduate of the Dutch side, move to such a big club like Manchester United.

"We are very proud of this upcoming transfer, which came in a huge momentum," said Brands. "Memphis has gone through all the teams of the PSV youth academy and has played an important part in the national title this year."

"He's a wonderful exponent of our training and will make a nice transition to a magnificent club in a beautiful competition. We obviously lose a fantastic player, which is of great value to the team. But PSV grants him this wonderful step."

The addition of Depay this summer will certainly boost United's chances of challenging for the English Premier League title and other competitions in the 2015/16 season, as he has been very impressive at PSV this campaign, leading the Eredivisie scoring charts with 21 goals from 28 appearances.
