The Tamil Nadu forest department has shot dead a tiger on Wednesday at Susampadi forest in the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. The man-eater had killed two persons.
The tiger was killed after firing five rounds of shots; Tamil Nadu officials have taken its body to Gudalur.
A Kerala farmer and a Tamil Nadu woman were killed by the man-eater in Kerala's Wayanad district last week.
Following public protest, Chief Wildlife Warden G Harikumar had earlier issued an immediate shoot-at-sight order for the killer tiger. Eight cameras were installed in the forest area to track the man-eater.
The news about the tiger's death has come as a relief for the residents of the village.
