Goa police Wednesday arrested a construction worker who brutally murdered a four-year-old girl after raping her in Quepem town, Panaji.

The victim is a resident of suburban Kurla area, Mumbai. She was on a visit to her grandfather's house in Goa to spend her summer vacation and went missing on May 20, according to reports.

A construction worker on Tuesday morning found out the decomposed remains of the victim's body at a construction site in Quepem.

The accused is identified as Dipak Kumar, a laborer, who is married and hails from Begusarai, Bihar. According to police, Kumar admitted that he had sexually abused the girl and killed her Sunday evening.

"The girl was playing with other kids when Kumar approached her and offered her a chocolate and took her to an under-construction site where he raped her," Press Trust of India quoted police Inspector Santosh Desai as saying.

Kumar after raping the girl killed her by strangulating her and then chopped her body into pieces, Desai said.
