'Maine Pyaar Kiya' Completes 25 Years: Salman Khan Fans Go Nostalgic, Twitter Flooded with Rare Photos

Director Sooraj R Barjatya's "Maine Pyaar Kiya" (MPK), which was released in theatres on 29 December, 1989, has completed 25 years on Thursday. This musical-romance was the first big break for Salman Khan, whose fans went nostalgic about the film on Twitter, which is awash with rare photos from the movie.

Written by Sooraj R Barjatya, "Maine Pyar Kiya" revolves around the story of two friends Prem and Suman, who gradually fall in love with each other. Both Salman Khan and Bhagyashree made their debut through this film, which turned to be the biggest blockbuster of 1989.

"Maine Pyar Kiya" scored both critical and commercial success. Besides setting several new records at the box office, the film also won seven Filmfare Awards in categories such as Best Film, Best Music Director, Best Male Debut, Best Female Debut, Best Music Director, Best Male Playback Singer and Best Lyricist.

Having creating a new era of romance dramas, "Maine Pyar Kiya" is named among evergreen movies of Bollywood. The film also marked a shift from masala movies of 80's and gave a different angle to love and friendship. On its 25^th Anniversary, Salman Khan fans recall some fantastic moments of the film.
