Mahira Khan is debuting with Shah Rukh Khan, an opportunity most aspiring actresses crave for. However, the experience has gradually started to get sour.

Mahira will be seen romancing the superstar in "Raees," but the film has been delayed. Up until very recently, the crime-thriller was to open in theatres on July 6, same day as Salman Khan's "Sultan." But now it will be out on Jan.26, 2017.

So how is the delay affecting the leading lady?

"Mahira has been getting interesting offers in Bollywood, but she has signed a contract with the Raees makers that stops her from taking on any new work in Bollywood until the release of the film," BollywoodLife quoted a source as saying.

The reasons for the delay are:

A few days ago, both SRK and Salman said that the film ("Raees") had to be pushed because in India, there aren't enough screens for two big films. Also, SRK believes he didn't get the action sequences right and thought it would be wise to re-do them. This means the film isn't complete yet and there are portions Shah Rukh still needs to shoot.

In other news, SRK will be next seen in "Dear Zindagi" alongside Alia Bhatt. Directed by Gauri Shinde, the film arrives in theatres on Nov. 25, which is also the day Vidya Balan's "Kahaani 2" is expected to be out.

This makes one wonder – SRK does have a special relationship with clashes, doesn't he? "Dilwale" Vs. "Bajirao Mastani" was a major box office battle.

Here is the official statement released by the "Raees" team on the date change:

"It was not an easy decision to move the film. We understand that 'Raees' is highly anticipated. However, a film of such magnitude requires the appropriate showcasing and therefore, we have decided to shift our release date to 26th January 26, 2017. As we already know, this year is packed with a lot of releases by a lot of A-Listers so the movie-goers are in for a treat. However, learning that SRK's film directed by Rahul Dholakia is going to be a cinematic bliss as well, it would be unfair for the film to clash with others this year. With Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Hrithik Roshan etc taking away all the holiday weekends, finding a befitting date for Raees did become a challenge."
