Leading utility vehicle manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has quietly launched the automatic variant of the 1.99litre XUV500 for the Delhi NCR. The XUV500 1.99litre automatic has been priced at Rs. 14.51 lakh.

To be available in W6, W8 and the W10 of the XUV500, the 1.99litre engine of the XUV500 gets the six-speed automatic gearbox. While the W6 comes with a price tag of Rs. 14.51 lakh, the W8 and W10 trims get Rs. 15.94 lakh and Rs. 17.32 lakh, respectively (ex-showroom Delhi). Mahindra launched the 1.99 litre engine powered Scorpio and the XUV500 to address the registration ban on diesel cars of over 2000cc capacity in Delhi and NCR.

Under the hood, the XUV500 gets a downsized 1997cc four-cylinder engine, which can churn out 140bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. The transmission is taken care of by a six-speed manual and automatic gearbox now. The same engine also powers the Scorpio, but tuned to develop 120bhp of power at 4000rpm and 280Nm of torque between 1800 and 2800rpm in the Scorpio.

The XUV500 1.99litre automatic offers safety features such as airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stabilisation Programme (ESP) and Hill Hold control. The top-end trim also feature electric sunroof with anti-pinch and logo-projection lamps on ORVMs. Other features include touchscreen infotainment system with USB/GPS/Bluetooth connectivity, 6-way power adjustable driver's seat, tilt power steering, power foldable and adjustable ORVMs and projector headlamps.
