Close on the heels of launching the Automatic version of Cheetah-inspired XUV500 in India, Mahindra and Mahindra is now reportedly planning to introduce a brand new 6-speed automatic gearbox in its SUV Scorpio, according to a report.

Mahindra, which launched the XUV500 with the new automatic gearbox sourced from Aisin Seiki, is likely to roll out the same for its Scorpio too in India, reports Auto Car India.

Currently, the Scorpio Automatic uses a 6-speed automatic gearbox from Drivetrain Systems International (DSI). The report further says that the launch of Scorpio with the new Automatic gearbox may not happen soon as the company still has several units of the DSI transmission in stock.

The XUV500's new 6-speed automatic gearbox developed by Japan's Aisin Seiki, which will also be shared with the upcoming Ssangyong SUVs like Tivoli and Korando C, features in-built hill start assist, manual mode and creep function.

Priced at 15.36 lakh (ex-showroom, Navi Mumbai), the Mahindra XUV500 automatic is powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel engine.
