Popular Utility vehicle manufacturer Mahindra and Mahindra on Wednesday, 6 January, 2016, launched its new commercial vehicle Imperio in India with a price tag starting at Rs 6.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Thane).

The new Imperio -- the copiously tweaked version of Genio -- has replaced the ageing Mahindra Genio in the Indian commercial vehicle market. Offered in both single cabin and double cabin options, Imperio premium pickup truck is the eighth product from Mahindra in this financial year.

As for styling, Mahindra Imperio gets refreshed front styling with 'toothed-grille' and new bumper, while the side and rear profiles of the pickup has more than a passing resemblance with its predecessor Genio. The new pickup truck gets two drive modes -- power mode and Eco mode -- and features tilt-adjustable power steering , power windows, keyless entry and 2-DIN music system.

Under the hood, the Imperio packs the 2.5-litre four-cylinder mDI CRDe diesel engine that can churn out 75bhp of power at 3,200 rpm and 220 Nm of peak torque at 1,400-2200 rpm. It is mated to the same 5-speed manual transmission and claims to offer 13.55 kmpl mileage. Mahindra will offer the Imperio in both BS-III and BS-IV options.
