A survey released on Tuesday ranked Mahatama Gandhi twelfth in 'India's most-trusted personalities' list which was topped by social activist Anna Hazare for the second consecutive time.  

The survey, titled "The Brand Trust Report 2013', was conducted by Trust Research Advisory of India and is based on the country's 1,100 most-trusted brands covering 211 categories including personalities, personal gadgets, consumer products, retail, technology, banking, government institutes, telecom, airlines, amongst many others.

"Hazare has maintained his numero uno position for the second consecutive year", the firm's chief executive N Chandramouli told PTI.

"Humans are the best indicators of trust because we are conditioned to use human trust as a survival technique spanning millennia. Trust is the crux of all social engagements," he added.

According to the survey, mobile handset maker Nokia was ranked the most trustable brand while Airtel topped the mobile telephony category.

In the cinema/music category, Bollywood superstar Amir Khan climbed to second position from the fifth spot last year thanks to positive responses for his talk show 'Satyamev Jayate'. Salman Khan was pushed into the third spo, followed by Amitabh Bachan and Shahrukh Khan.

Business tycoon Ratan Tata, who stepped down from executive responsibility of the Tata group on Dec 28, 2012 after serving as chairman for 21 years, went up two places to the fourth spot in the list

Tata was followed by legendary industrialist late Dhirubhai Ambani who made it to the list for the first time followed by liquor baron Vijay Mallya.

In the sports category, Sachin Tendulkar topped the list followed by athlete PT Usha and cricketer M.S Dhoni.
