Made in India: LG launches K10 and K7 series smartphones; price, specifications

South Korean consumer electronics major LG launched the company's first made-in-India smartphones — K10 and K7 — on April 14.

"The Indian digital ecosystem will be a $1trillion economy in the next 5 years with $400bn contribution from smartphones and electronics manufacturing, 350Bn from IT&ITES enables services and $250Bn from Communications services. LG is a large global brand name and we are very excited that they have chosen to manufacture mobile handsets from India. With LG smartphones consumers will have access to governance, information and knowledge in the hands." Ravi Shankar Prasad,  Union Minister of Communication and Information Technology, said in a statement.

LG in association with GDN Enterprises has set-up a manufacturing plant in Noida (near New Delhi) to produce handsets to cater to the domestic market.

LG K10 and K7 were first globally unveiled at Las Vegas' Consumer Eletronics Show (CES) 2016 in January, and now the new mid-range phones have been finally made available in India.

LG K10 is the top-end model among the two phones. It features a 5.3-inch HD screen with In-Cell display technology and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop backed by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 CPU with 2GB RAM, 16GB inbuilt storage and a 2,300mAh battery.

The LG K7 features a smaller 5.0-inch FWVGA screen, a Snapdragon 210 quad-core SoC (System-on-Chip), 1.5GB RAM, 8GB inbuilt memory, a 2,125mAh battery, and 5MP cameras on both the back and front.

LG K10 and K7 price details:

LG's K7 costs Rs. 9,500 and comes in white, black and gold colour options. On the other hand, the K10 will set you back by Rs. 13,500. It will be available in white, gold and indigo colours.
