The latest Tamil film "Maari", which hit screens on 17 July, has got a good opening at the box office. Though the film has garnered mixed reviews from critics, it is doing reasonably well at the box office.

According to trade analyst Sreedhar Pillai, "Maari" opening day collection was Rs 5.60 crore.

"Maari" is probably one of the most awaited films of Dhanush for several reasons. The producers of the movie had adopted a massive promotion pattern for the film since its announcement and every aspect of the movie was released with the required hype. Dhanush's look, dialogues and actions sequences had managed to capture the audience attention way ahead of "Maari" release.

With the opening day response which the film had managed to get, it looks the promotion has  worked well to get people to theatres on its opening day.

"Maari" has been directed by Balaji Mohan, who has made a mark in the Tamil industry with films such as "Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi" and "Vaayai Moodi Pesavum". Now, his latest film has also shown a sign of being a box office success as "Maari" has managed a sole release in the festive Ramzan season.

Besides Dhanush, "Maari" has star cast of Kajal Aggarwal, Robo Shankar, Vijay Yesudas, Kaali Venkat, Kalloori Vinoth, Mime Gopi, Sriranjini.
