Dhanush and Kajal Aggarwal starrer "Maari" is off to a good start at the worldwide box office. In the first three days itself, the movie has earned above Rs.25 crore.

A report published on Behindwoods says that "Maari" minted about Rs.14 crore at the domestic box office (Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka), of which the film made Rs. 13 crore from the Tamil Nadu alone.

"Maari" has raked in about Rs.11 crore from the international circuits in the opening weekend to take the worldwide total gross to Rs.25 crore. It is said to be an impressive amount for a Dhanush starrer.

However, "Maari" could not beat the record of Dhanush's previous movie "Anegan", which had raked in Rs.16.1 crore in the first weekend earlier this year. But the latest movie managed to surpass the business of "'Velai Illa Pattathari", which had earned a little above Rs.13 crore.

The biggest advantage for the movie is that the movie has got the 30% Entertainment Tax Exemption from the state government by acquiring a clean "U" certificate from the Regional Censor Board.

All the movies getting clean chit from the Regional Censor Board will benefit from Tamil Nadu government's policy. It means that whatever the film has earned in the state will be shared between the producer and distributor.

The Dhanush starrer now banks on good word-of-mouth, which is said to be decent for this movie. "Maari" had opened to mixed reviews from the audience and critics last weekend.

"Maari" is a regular masala movie directed by Balaji Mohan of "Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi" and "Vaayai Moodi Pesavum". Though the film does not have anything fresh, it seems to be entertaining the audience with the content.
