Goa/ Assam/ Tripura, April 12 (ANI): Voting in four states, namely Assam, Goa, Sikkim and Tripura began on Saturday, with voters casting ballots that would decide the fate of over 1.2 billion people. Polling began at 7am in four states for seven consituencies, namely three seats in Assam, two in Goa and one each in Sikkim and Tripura. Around 50 lakh voters will vote for 74 candidates in the four states. Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who was amongst the early voters, pinned hopes on his party. In Goa, 19 candidates are in the fray for the North and South Goa constituencies, which will witness a single phased poll. While Assam has nearly 30 million eligible voters, Goa has over 1 million. Sikkim has a 362,326 electorate, of which 175,549 are women. As many as 1.13 million electorate are eligible to vote as 12 candidates battle it out for the Tripura East constituency.
