South Korean consumer electronics giant, LG today officially launched the mid-range phablet G Pro Lite in India.
G Pro Lite believed to be the striped down variant of the flagship model Optimus G Pro was unveiled just three weeks ago in Seoul.
"The LG G Pro Lite is a feature and experience rich smartphone specifically designed to provide communication flexibility to our growing customer base. We are strengthening our mobile portfolio by continuously adding-in feature and experience rich devices so as to provide our customers with competitive devices," said Soon Kwon, M.D, LG India.
"The market for smartphones with displays over five inches will continue to grow and LG is in a great position to capture these new customers when they're ready to move up from their current phones" He added.
LG G Pro Lite dons 5.5-inch IPS qHD (960x540p) resolutions and runs on the Android v4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS, backed by 1GHz MediaTek dual-core processor (MT6577), 1GB RAM, 8GB storage (expandable up to 32GB) and 3,140 mAh battery.
LG G Pro Lite houses an 8.0-megapixel main camera and 1.3-megapixel secondary camera in the front. Connectivity options include dual-SIM slots, 3G network support, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth v3.0 and A-GPS.
The mid-range phablet also boasts of smart features such as KnockON (screen unlocking ), QuickMemo, QSlide, Qtranslator, 'Pause and Resume' smart video playback and an automatic response system where the phone pauses the video if the users turn their face away from the smartphone and starts once they return their attention to the handset.
The company has priced the G Pro Lite at ₹22,990, but the same device is retailing for much cheaper price at Snapdeal for ₹19,990. Another e-retailer Saholic is also expected to begin selling the device soon.
The new MNC branded LG phablet will take on low-cost Indian models Micromax Canvas Doodle 2, Spice Pinnacle Stylus Mi-550 and others which all fall in the same device class.
