Metal-clad LG G5 with modular design, dual-cameras unveiledLG Newsroom

The mobile arm of South Korean technology giant LG is all set to launch the company's 2016 flagship smartphone G5 in India next month.

Last week, the company commenced LG G5 preorder service on Flipkart for Rs 52,990, but refrained from revealing when the device will be made available at brick-and-mortar stores.

The wait for the new phone is expected to end soon as LG has confirmed to host G5 launch programme on June 1 in New Delhi, which will presided over by Kim Ki Wan, managing director, LG Electronics India. In the event, the company is expected to officially reveal the device's release details.

The highlight of LG G5 is its modular design language. It comes with detachable bottom segment, where-in device users can simply pull the bottom part like a tray and swap the battery. Besides that, users can also dock accessories like LG CAM Plus.

The LG CAM Plus comes with physical buttons for power, shutter, record, zoom, LED indicator and comfortable grip. It also offers intuitive auto focus and exposure lock, features usually found on standalone digital cameras.

It is worth mentioning that the company has incorporated a separate 1,200mAh capacity battery inside the CAM Plus, so that users can enjoy longer shooting times on LG G5. Users, who book LG G5 on Flipkart before May 30, get LG CAM Plus free of cost.

LG G5 also boasts dual-cameras on the back -- one with a standard 78-degree lens and another with a 135-degree wide angle lens, the widest available in any smartphone in the market, the company claims.

Other stipulated features of LG G5 include metal-based uni-body design, 5.3-inch QHD display, Android Marshmallow OS, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 CPU, 4GB LPDDR4 RAM, 32GB inbuilt memory and a 2800mAh battery.

Once launched, it will be pitted against the popular Samsung Galaxy S7 series, Apple iPhone 6S, 6S Plus, Microsoft Lumia 950 series, Moto X Force and soon to be released HTC 10, among others.

During the official LG G5 unveiling in February, the company had also showcased LG 360 Cam, LG 360 VR and LG Charging Cradle, but we are not sure whether these companion accessories will be made available in India.
