LG's 2014 marquee phone G3 can now be pre-booked at an online store in the sub-continent.

Before the company could officially announce the release date of its flagship phone, a local e-commerce site, Infibeam has begun taking orders for LG G3 in India. The retailer has also disclosed the price of the 16GB and 32GB models – ₹46,990 (MRP: ₹49,990) and ₹49,990 (MRP: ₹54,990) respectively and adds that the delivery of the device would begin from 25 July.

In late June, LG had announced that G3 would hit stores in the global markets starting from 27 June in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, and the Philippines, and in rest of Asia, Europe, the Middle East and other regions in July, now it looks like the company is keeping its word to release the flagship phone this month in India.

[Update: Replying to our report, LG representative has categorically said that LG G3 is not officially launched in India as yet.]

LG G3 flaunts 5.5-inch QHD (2560 x 1440p) IPS display with a pixel density of 538 ppi (pixels per inch) and ships with Android v4.4.2 KitKat OS powered by the 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 series quad-core CPU, Adreno 330, 2GB (3GB for some markets) RAM, 16GB/32GB eMMC inbuilt storage (expandable up to 128GB) and a 3,000 mAh battery.

Besides the high-resolution screen, LG G3 houses a unique 13.0-megapixel camera with laser based auto-focus feature, which no other top-end phone in the industry boasts of. This feature measures the distance between the subject and the camera using a laser beam enabling quick capture of good quality photos even under low-light conditions. It also boasts of OIS+ (Optical Image Stabilization Plus). On the front, it comes with a 2.1-megapixel snapper.

Other value added features include Knock Code screen unlocker, Smart Key board (intuitive feature learns user's writing habits and predicts words in future texting), Smart Notice (this is more like Google Now feature which recommends suggestion, like foretelling user to take umbrella by referring to local area climate data from the Internet) and Smart Security, that will empower user with a 'kill switch,' wherein if they ever lose the phone, they can remotely disable the phone and clear all data. This feature also provides folder lock options as well.

LG G3 will be competing with Chinese brand Oppo Find 7 (expected to debut in India later in July), which also boasts of 2K display.

Other competitors include tier-1 brands - Samsung Galaxy S5, Sony Xperia Z1, HTC One M8 and Apple iPhone 5S.
