Lenovo confirmed its attendance at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2016 in Las Vegas this week. But the company is not waiting for the big event to show off its latest range of devices. The Chinese smartphone-maker launched a new budget smartphone, Vibe S1 Lite, which, as the name suggests, is a toned-down version of last year's Lenovo Vibe S1.
Lenovo Vibe S1 Lite seems a pretty good deal despite being a downgraded version of the Vibe S1. It has most features intact, such as a 5-inch Full HD display with 440ppi, 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with PDAF, dual-tone LED flash, and BSI and an impressive 8MP selfie camera, which also comes with an LED flash.
As for some notable downgrades, the Lite variant of Vibe S1 features a 1.3GHz octa-core MediaTek processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB expandable storage. Comparatively, the Vibe S1 features a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek processor, 3GB RAM and 32GB expandable storage. The Vibe S1 Lite also misses the dual front camera setup seen in the Vibe S1.
Lenovo Vibe S1 also supports dual SIM cards, 4G LTE 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS/ A-GPS, and Micro-USB, Gadgets360 reported. But Lenovo has increased the battery size in the Lite variant, which now packs a 2,700mAh unit compared to the 2,420mAh battery found in the Vibe S1.
Lenovo Vibe S1 Lite is slightly thicker but 3 grams lighter than the Vibe S1 despite a bigger battery. The Vibe S1 Lite measures 145x71x8.5mm versus the Vibe S1's 143.3 x 70.8 x 7.8mm.
Lenovo Vibe S1 Lite's launch was first reported by Android World, which cites an official press release from Lenovo giving out the price and availability details. Lenovo Vibe S1 Lite will be available in early 2016 for $199 (approximately Rs 13,250) in matte white and matte blue colours. Lenovo Vibe S1 sells for Rs 15,999 in India.
