July will witness clash of a few much-hyped mid-range smartphones. It is confirmed that the just announced Lenovo K3 Note and Elephone P8000 will take on each other in the price-conscious Indian market, and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 may join the competition too.

While the Lenovo K3 Note priced ₹9,999 will be available via flash sale on 8 July, the Elephone P8000 will hit the stores on 20 July. Flipkart has already listed Elephone's upcoming smartphone but its price is still not announced. Reports have claimed that it could come with a price tag of ₹12,999 as it is priced $210 in the US.

Another device that could join the fray is Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 which is very likely to be released this month. It may also be priced a little more than ₹10,000, as its predecessor, the Redmi Note 4G was priced ₹9,999 at the time of its launch (now available for ₹7,999).

It is not fair to compare the upcoming Xiaomi smartphone with other devices, as its features are not announced officially. So, here is specifications comparison of Lenovo K3 Note and Elephone P8000:

Display: Both the Lenovo K3 Note and Elephone P8000 score even in terms of display, sporting a 5.5-inch display with FHD 1920x1080p (401 ppi pixel density) screen resolution.

Processor: The Lenovo K3 Note is powered by Mediatek MT6752 Octa-core processor clocking at 1.7GHz, and the Elephone P8000 has MediaTek MT6753, so there is no significant difference between the devices.

Operating System: The Elephone P8000 comes running on Android 5.0 Lollipop, while Lenovo K3 Note has Android 5.0.2 Lollipop (with Vibe v2.5 UI). Both the devices run on Lollipop but Lenovo K3 Note has an edge over its competitor here.

Memory: The Elephone P8000 scores over Lenovo K3 Note in terms of storage with 16 GB internal memory expandable up to 128 GB via microSD cards and 3 GB RAM, compared to the latter's 16 GB internal storage expandable up to 32 GB and 2 GB RAM.

Camera: Both the devices house a 13 MP main camera and 5 MP front snapper.

Battery: The Elephone P8000 is packed with a powerful 4165 mAh large battery compared to Lenovo K3 Note's 3000 mAh battery.

Conclusion: The Elephone P8000 scores over the Lenovo K3 with stronger battery and more memory. However, one should not forget the fact that Lenovo's device is cheaper than the P8000 by at least ₹3,000.

Meanwhile, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 is expected to come with several feature upgrades over its predecessor. According to a report by GSM Arena, the device will sport a 5.5-inch screen with 720p display, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor with quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU, and house a 13 MP main camera and a 5 MP front snapper. There were also reports that it might come with Mediatek (MT6795) Helio X10 processor, and either Android 5.0.2 Lollipop or 5.1 Lollipop with MIUI.
