Fans of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," the police procedural drama series on NBC, are looking forward to watch Lt. Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Captain Ed Tucker (Robert John Burke) finally deciding to take their relationship to the next level. However, recent reports say that viewers might come across an unexpected surprise in the upcoming season of the series.

As reported by Game n Guide, Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni), the partner of Olivia for a long time, is all set to make a comeback with Season 18 of "SVU." If it happens, there will surely be some disturbance between Olivia and Ed as their relationship has become more personal than professional.

Undoubtedly, Olivia is happy with Ed, and his company helps her maintain her calm while solving cases. She is known as one of the toughest members of SVU, and only Ed's presence can soothe her.

However, with Elliot's return, Olivia will surely be in a dilemma, as both of them have worked together for years and are very compatible with each other. Besides, it seems that Elliot doesn't know much about her relationship with Ed and hence, Olivia doesn't want things to become awkward between them.

On the other hand, Elliot has always been a very understanding partner who supports and respects Olivia's decision. Hence, even if the two unite as a team again, he might not react differently upon getting the news.

Whether Elliot's return will affect Olivia-Ed relationship and if the duo will move on with their life, will be seen when "Law & Order: SVU" Season 18 is aired on Sept. 21 on NBC.

According to the plot of Episode 1 of "SVU" Season 2, the unit will be working on the case of a lost boy whose mother is missing. While the investigation goes on, Olivia will have an argument with Rafael (Raúl Esparza) that will create tension between them.
