In a few more weeks, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" will be televised again, and for those who are major shippers of Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), the plot will be difficult to digest.

According to executive producer Warren Leight, the lieutenant will be forced to face a harrowing episode that may perhaps scar her for a very long time.

"We're going to start off the year new, for people who worry about Olivia, with the scariest episode of the season. We haven't quite gone this far with her since the William Lewis [Pablo Schreiber] stuff," Leight said in a recent interview with TV Guide.

According to the showrunner, the forthcoming episode's plot will include a hostage situation involving Olivia. How did she get into that mess is a question you may ask, but the showrunner only hinted at mental tribulations as the cause.

"There's been more and more pressure on her, and she's been making some mistakes. We're going to start out with a moment in which she drops her guard just for a moment and gets herself into a horrible, threatening situation. ... She'll be dealing with the after-effects of that for a little while," he said.

A recent news article on Christian Today also claimed that the midseason premiere of "Law & Order: SVU" season 17 will delve into Olivia's fight with Lewis Hoda (Tom Sizemore). We predict that Hoda's trial will reach a resolution when NBC procedural drama resumes. It isn't clear if he will be sent to prison, but if he isn't, the tension between them will continue.

Furthermore, Mariska Hargitay recently tweeted that the show will include more villains that her character has to face.

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" season 17 airs in January 2016 on NBC.
