Late Malayalam actor Murali's daughter Karthika entered the wedlock on July 15 at RDR Kalyanamandapam in Edapazhanji, Thiruvananthapuram. The celebrity daughter got married to Swaroop R Nair, who hails from Vattiyoorkavu, in a low-key ceremony on Friday.

The event saw the presence of few celebrities, including Sibi Malayil, Indrans, Ganesh Kumar, Karthika, Madhupal, Kundara Johny, Shobi Thilakan, John Brittas and Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, R Balakrishna Pillai, VM Sudheeran, M Vijayakumar also attended the function. Megastar Mammootty had earlier visited Karthika and blessed her, as he wouldn't have been able to attend the marriage ceremony of his late friend's daughter.

The National Film Award-winning actor Murali had worked in more than 150 Malayalam movies, apart from films in 10 other languages. The talented artiste, who began his acting career with the 1979 movie "Njattadi," was also a recipient of the prestigious Kerala State Film Award six times, for his performances in "Aadhaaram,"  "Neythukaaran," "Kaanakkinavu" and "Thalolam," among others. He was last seen in Anjali Menon's critically acclaimed "Manjadikuru" that was released in 2013, after the actor's demise.

The versatile actor died at the age of 55 after a heart attack in 2009 in Thiruvananthapuram. He was also suffering from acute diabetes.
