The Catalans are unbeaten in their last 13 matches, winning 11. Tata Martino's men continue to stay ahead of Atletico Madrid at the top of the league table, albeit on goal difference, after beating Malaga 3-0 last week.

And though the five-point lead over Real Madrid that the Blaugrana carried into the New Year has now been cut short to just one, after the draws at Atletico Madrid and Levante, they still continue remain top and are considered favourites for the league title.

Barca also secured a spot in the semifinals of the Copa del Rey during midweek, after hammering Levante 5-1 (9-2 on aggregate).

Valencia, on the other hand, are currently 10th on the table but are only four points clear of 17th placed Elche. Juan Antonio Pizzi's side are having a terrible run of form and are without a win in their last five matches in all competitions.

Barcelona: Neymar remains sidelined for Martino, while captain Carles Puyol Martin Montoya, Ibrahim Afellay, Isaac Cuenca, Jonatahan Dos Santos and Oier Olazabal are also missing from the Catalans' matchday squad.

Valencia: Sergio Canales is sidelined, while Joao Pereira is suspended. New signing Eduardo Vargas (on loan from Napoli) will make an appearance at some point.
