It is well known that "Uthama Villain" boasts an ensemble cast in the likes of Kamal Haasan, K Balachander, K Viswanath, Jayaram and Urvasi among others. And if the latest rumours are to be believed, the film might have a big star attraction in the form of Rajinikanth.

Though fans of Kamal and Rajini have seen the two superstars as competitors, the actors have remained good friends over the years.

The stars had acted together in several films in the past. But of late, they decided not to act together and build their own individual brand in films.

However, fans of the duo have always wished that the stars would share screen space together sometime in the near future. And though reports about the actors' reunion appeared every now and then, it never materialised. But now, it might become a reality through Kamal's upcoming project "Uthama Villain".

The latest buzz is that Kamal wants his good friend Rajini to appear in a cameo in "Uthama Villain", a romantic comedy directed by Ramesh Aravind. Kamal is understood to have conveyed his wish to have Rajinikanth in a special appearance in the film, and a source has told Indiaglitz that the latter has given his nod to the cameo.

The source has told the website that there is a video conferencing scene in the film in which Rajini will make an appearance. However, there is no official confirmation on the same.

"Uthama Villain" will have Kamal appearing in dual roles - as an 8th century drama actor named Uttaman and a 21st century film star called Manoranjan. The film also has "Vishwaroopam" girls Andrea Jeremiah and Pooja Kumar in important roles. Parvathy Menon of "Mariyaan" fame will also appear in a pivotal role.

The film's story and screenplay is written by Kamal, while Ramesh directs it. It's music was composed by Ghibran, whereas editing is done by Vijai Sankar. "Uthama Villain" is expected to release this year.
