Junior doctors and students of Kolkata's Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College and Hospital beatem a man to death for allegedly stealing cell-phone.

The 28-year-old man was suspected of committing a theft within the hostel premises of the medical college after some cell phones, laptops and other valuables started going missing on frequent occasions. Following repeated incidents, some junior doctors caught the man red-handed stealing a cellphone, the hospital sources said, according to Hindustan Times.

After getting hold of the man, the junior doctors took him to the common room, where they along with some other students bobbitised him and beat him brutally, resulting in his immediate death.

The Entally police station has registered a case and arrested two doctors along with two hostel canteen staff and conducted an investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, the man's body has been sent for post-mortem.

"A case has been registered and the police are investigating the incident. I have spoken to the principal of the medical college. That's all I have to say right now," Women and Child Welfare Minister and President of NRS' governing body Dr Sashi Panja said.
