Less than a month before they were due to tie the knot, Kim Kardashian and fiancé Kanye West decided to get hitched in a private ceremony in Los Angeles, according to reports.

"Kim and Kanye are now married on paper. They got their license in California over the past few days," a source told Life & Style magazine. "Kim and North are on their way to NYC now."

Earlier reports had noted that Kardashian and West would get their wedding license sometime this week before heading to Paris, where the official ceremony would take place. Reportedly, they wanted to get legally married in Los Angeles before jetting out to Paris.

On April 28, a HollywoodLife source revealed: "They are headed out to Paris within a week, so they'll get their license first."

West and Kardashian are expected to marry on 24 May during a ceremony at France's Chateau Louis XIV. Although details about the wedding are yet unknown, Kardashian said in a Vogue interview that the ceremony would be an intimate affair.

"People are probably assuming we're going to have this massive wedding, and I think it will be – but intimate," Kardashian said, according to reports. "Two hundred people – just all of our closest friends – a special night for us and all the people that really love us and that have supported us."

Kardashian has not addressed these wedding rumors yet, and a source close to her has since stated that the 33-year-old is still a bride-to-be. But that hasn't stopped microblogging site Twitter from exploding with congratulatory messages.

A number of people have also used this opportunity to poke fun at Kimye's relationship.
