It's been a while since fans of South Korean actor Kim Hyun Joong heard anything about his legal battle with former girlfriend Ms Choi. Reports now state that they will be back in court for their next hearing on January 11.

Earlier this year, the young heartthrob was proved not guilty for the charges brought against him by his ex at the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutor's Office. In order to reverse the outcome of court verdict, his baby mother filed another lawsuit against him on August 24 and they will have their first trial next month.

The defence attorney of Korean entertainer, Lee Jae Man, confidently stated that his client will "see the lawsuit with determination". On the other hand, the legal representative of Ms Choi said that they will continue to fight for justice and force her baby daddy to apologise for torturing her with false accusations. According to him, a few irrational fans of the actor kept sending her malicious comments and he needs to self-reflect.

"He made the image of her character crash as he sued the mother of his child and called her a blackmailer and con artist. Despite being acquitted, Kim Hyun Joong has not apologized and shows no remorse. He must apologize," Soompi quoted him as saying.

The legal battle between Kim Hyun Joong and Ms Choi began in August 2014 after the latter filed a lawsuit against him for assaulting her. Though she dropped the lawsuit after receiving 600 million won (approximately US$526,000) as compensation, she filed another case against him in April 2015 for mental torture.

On August 10, the young actor, who has to carry out military service for two more months, was ruled not guilty due to lack of evidence. The court also ordered his former girlfriend to pay 100 million won (approximately US$91,400) as compensation for damaging his public image.
