Sasikumar's "Kidaari" has got a good opening in Tamil Nadu. The movie, which was released on Friday, Sept. 3, has performed well on the first day at the box office despite Bharat bandh.

"Kidaari" got a decent response for advance booking and the pre-release buzz ensured that the film registered good occupancy in theatres in main centres. The film has especially got overwhelming response in Sasikumar's stronghold regions like Madurai, Ramanathapuram, Trichy, Thanjavur, Thirunelveli and Kanyakumari.

"#Kidaari takes a good day 1 opening, especially in @SasikumarDir strongholds - MR, TT, TK. [sic]" trade tracker Sreedhar Pillai confirmed the news on Twitter. The early reports emerging from the trade suggest that the film has become the biggest opener in Sasikumar's career. The exact collection made by the film is yet to be revealed.

"Kidaari," which was released in over 400 screens in Tamil Nadu, has opened to positive reviews from the audience and critics. The film has been appreciated for its tight screenplay and brilliant performance of Sasikumar.

However, it has to be seen how the movie performs in the next few days. The first weekend is crucial for its success at the box office. No big films have been released this weekend and this might benefit the film to a large extent. But Vikram's "Iru Mugan" is releasing next week and it is expected to take a toll on the business of Sasikumar-starrer.

"Kidaari" is written and directed by Prasath Murugesan, who was a former associate to filmmaker Vasantha Balan. The film has Nikhila Vimal in the female lead role.
