The erotic love triangle "Khamoshiyan" has failed to impress critics. The horror film, produced by Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt, has received negative reviews from critics upon its release.

The film marks the debut of Sapna Pabbi and television actor Gurmeet Choudhary into Bollywood, while Ali Fazal was last seen in "Bobby Jassos".

The Karan Darra directorial has received positive reviews mostly for its music, while the storyline disappointed the reviewers.

Check out the reviews below:

Akshay Kaushal of IBNLive said: "The dialogues are very cringe-worthy in #Khamoshiyan. #Khamoshiyan's first half is pretty bad. Like I would prefer to watch YouTube ads, that can't be skipped, for two hours."

"#Khamoshiyan scares you in bits, but it's just like any other horror movie."

Prarthna Sarkar of IBTimes India said: "The highlight of the film is its music. And yes, adding to the tagline -- 'Silences have secrets' and empty theatres."

Surabhi Redkar of Koimoi.com said: "Khamoshiyan is not an out and out horror film, in fact it is a decent mixture of horror and romance. The sets look good with their creepy interiors and eerie silences work good for this film. Not a must-watch material but passable for regular cine-goers."

Letty Abraham of BollywoodLife.com said: "Ali Fazal and Sapna Pabbi have a great chemistry going. The pace of the movie is set perfectly to increase one's curiosity but there are some gaping loopholes in the plot. The first half looks intriguing and keeps the mystery alive. Gurmeet's fans might be a little disappointed because the dude is missing from the first half."

Bollywood Hungama in it's review said: "KHAMOSHIYAN fails to impress or entertain (an extra half star for music though). In these changing times, audience wants something fresh even in the Horror/ Supernatural genre. Bhatts need to realize that at the earliest. For now, you should stay away from this Echoing-Silence!"
