Mohanlal's "Oppam," Prithviraj Sukumaran's "Oozham" and Chiyaan Vikram's "Iru Mugan" were released at the Kerala box office on Thursday, Sept. 8. Interestingly, all the three movies have opened to a positive response from the audience.

According to trade analyts, the movies have been performing well at the box office owing to positive word-of-mouth publicity. Director Jeethu Joseph's revenge thriller "Oozham" finds the top spot in the opening day collection of the Onam releases at the multiplexes in Kochi. The movie is said to have earned approximately Rs. 9.56 lakh on the first day at the multiplexes, with 72 percent theatre occupancy.

It is followed by superstar Mohanlal's "Oppam," which is believed to have collected a gross amount of Rs. 8.34 lakh after getting 63 percent theatre occupancy at multiplexes in the city. The crime thriller, directed by veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan, has been tagged as the comeback movie of the actor-director duo after many years.

Meanwhile, "Iru Mugan," in which the actor dons multiple avatars, has also been receiving good response from the audience despite locking horns with two big-budget Malayalam movies. The Vikram-starrer, directed by Anand Shankar, made a collection of Rs. 6 lakh from Kochi alone. The movie is said to have witnessed 91percent theatre occupancy on the opening day itself at the multiplexes.

On Friday, Kunchacko Boban's family entertainer "Kochavva Paulo Ayyappa Coelho" hit the screens in Kerala, locking horns with the Onam releases. The Sidhartha-Siva directorial venture has been receiving good response, with social media users calling it a feel good movie.
