Kangana Ranaut and Imran Khan starrer "Katti Batti" had a dull opening weekend at the box office and the film failed to show any growth on its second and third day.

"Katti Batti", directed by Nikhil Advani, earned Rs 5 crore each day from the day of its release. The opening day box office collection of "Katti Batti" stands is Rs 5.28 crore. On second day it hardly witnessed any growth and minted Rs 5.48 crore and Sunday too the film maintained the same buzz and minted Rs 5.51 crore.

The opening weekend box office collection of "Katti Batti" stands at Rs 16.27 crore.

"#KattiBatti remained on similar levels on Sun. Jump in biz is clearly missing. Fri 5.28 cr, Sat 5.48 cr, Sun 5.51 cr. Total: ₹ 16.27 cr," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

"Katti Batti" was expected to open well as the film was promoted heavily and had a good hype. And since it had Kangana in the female lead role, there were a lot of expectations from the movie, but the film failed to impress critics as well as audiences.

According to Business Standard, the film suffered at the box office due to negative reviews from critics and the occasion of Ganpati Visarjan in Maharashtra.

Considering that the film features Kangana and Imran in the lead roles, it was expected to perform better than last week's release "Hero" starring newcomers Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty.

However, the opening day and opening weekend box office collection of "Katti Batti" has failed to beat "Hero" in India.

Overseas box office

Then love story has minted $810,000 (Rs 5.31 crore) from the overseas box office in two days, according to Koimoi.com.

"Katti Batti" minted $78, 000 from the North America box office, $300, 000 from the UAE-GCC, $46,000 from Pakistan and approximately $48, 000 from the UK box office, the trade website reported.
