Despite not being a superstar movie, latest Malayalam release Kattappanayile Hrithik Roshan (also spelled Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan) has been performing well at the Kerala box office for narrating the story of an aspiring actor from a village in Kerala.

The Nadhirshah directorial, which stars script writer-turned-actor Vishnu Unnikrishnan in the lead role, is said to have earned approximately Rs 13.38 crore within 16 days of its release in Kerala. The movie, which was released all over UAE and GCC on December 1, is believed to have made a business of Rs 4.63 crore taking its total gross collection to over Rs 18 crore after running successfully for more than two weeks in Kerala and overseas market. It is expected to hit the screens all over India and abroad soon.

Kattappanayile Hrithik Roshan is the second directorial venture of Nadhirshah after superhit comedy movie Amar Akbar Anthony, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, Indrajith Sukumaran and Jayasurya. The Vishnu-starrer has been bankrolled by actor Dileep, who is a close associate and friend of the mimicry artiste-turned-filmmaker. The movie stars Prayaga Martin and Maheshinte Prathikaaram-fame Lijomol Jose in the female lead roles, and has been garnering good response for comic timings of Salim Kumar, Siddique and Dharmajan Bolgatty.

The fun-filled entertainer, which carries the name Hrithik Roshan, has even gained the attention of the Bollywood actor, who has reportedly congratulated the team of the Malayalam movie for its tremendous success.

After watching the comedy entertainer, actor Unni Mukundan was all praise for the entire team of Kattappanayile Hrithik Roshan. "I'm still alive... was scared that I would die laughing... Vishnu Unnikrishnan ( best debut award awaiting you) congrats Saho Salim Kumar Chetan, u were mind blowing... dear dharmajan saho, so much more that u deserve Kudos to the Director, Nadir Shah... it's awesome that you made this film...[sic]," Unni posted on his Facebook page.
